Introducing Deliveroo Bundles in Zonal Delivery

Zonal Delivery now supports Deliveroo Bundles, which Deliveroo defines as a collection of menu items grouped together as a single offering which may or may not be discounted.

Bundles take the form of "Get X, Y & Z for £X" and a bundle can include a combination of main dishes, sides, and drinks. They can be used to offer a meal deal or combine a popular combination of items into a guided workflow for a Deliveroo customer to follow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I use Bundles?

By grouping menu items together in a bundle, individuals, families or large groups can order with ease and should help increase average order value.

When using discounted bundles, the Deliveroo customer will be able to see their savings displayed throughout the user journey, which should increase their value perception.

Are there any restrictions on menu items included in a bundle?

For legal reasons, Deliveroo state that bundles cannot include alcoholic items.

Are there any current limitations with bundles?

Deliveroo have called out that if a menu item (e.g. Margherita Pizza) has choices (e.g. Extra Toppings) and the menu item can be selected more than once in the bundle (e.g. 2 Pizzas & 1 side for £24), it will currently cause an error, preventing customers from checking out.

Deliveroo are working to resolve but in the meantime, when adding menu items with choice groups to a bundle, and you’d like customers to choose more than one of that item, please create separate bundle groups like the following:

  • Choose your first pizza

  • Choose your second pizza

Have Deliveroo provided any best practices?

Deliveroo have provided the following best practice guidelines for creating and configuring bundles:

  • Each bundle must be made only of existing items in the menu

    • Bundles can only include existing menu items. These menu items, along with their associated modifications, will automatically be included in the bundle.

  • Each bundle must have at least one way of being constructed without any additional cost

    • This means there should be at least one menu item the customer can select from each section that is included within the base price of the bundle.

  • Each bundle must be price compliant

    • The bundle should not cost more than buying the same menu items separately. Even in the least expensive setup of the bundle, its price should be no higher than the total cost of the items if bought individually. You will not be able to save the bundle if this condition is not met.

    • The additional price a customer has to pay for premium options within a bundle should not exceed the price difference between their standalone cost and the cheapest item in the same category.

How do bundles with work Upsell Groups in iOrder Platform?

If a bundle contains items that contain an Upsell Group (e.g. Would you like anything else?), Deliveroo will not show these to the customer.

Deliveroo have said this is to prevent a confusing user experience where the customer might be prompted to select a product twice, once as part of selecting a bundle item and then again in the bundle itself.

What should I do if I want to use different portion sizes for items that are part of a bundle vs if they are standalone items?

Deliveroo have stated it’s important that bundles only consist of items on the visible menu so that Deliveroo are able to accurately calculate and display savings to improve consumer value perception. If you prefer to have bundles with smaller than usual portion sizes this should also be clear to the consumer and these items need to be included on the menu.

Are bundles supported by any other Delivery Service Provider (DSP)?

Bundles have been introduced by Deliveroo and therefore is only exclusive to them.
